Meet Krystal: (Orana Trainer)

As some of you guys might know, I am studying fashion business at Orana Fashion Business College in Ultimo. One of my biggest inspirations since beginning this course has been my head trainer, Krystal and she happened to be the first person from Orana that I met and convinced me to study at the college.

Krystal has been working in the fashion industry most of her life, she began interning at the age of 14 and always knew that she would want to work in fashion. She was influenced by her family who were dressmakers, so she was always surrounded by fabrics and different patterns so it was a natural interest for her to want to work in this industry. All through high school, Krystal kept interning and worked for magazines, television styling and production, always knowing that one day she would start her own business.

Krystal told me that out of all the jobs she had in the industry, she couldn’t choose a favourite because each role has given her great joy, however, she did say that teaching is soul fulfilling and she always feels like a proud mum when the students email her to say they got their dream career.

I then went on t0 interview her a few questions about her career:

Where is your dream place to travel?

Paris, for sure because of the fashion, food and be inspired by the culture.

What was your biggest pinch-me moment?

Definitely, when I was invited to go to the Vanity Fair after party, that’s every fashion lovers dream.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is everything, it’s my whole life. Fashion is a lifestyle and I can’t imagine a life without myself working and being surrounded by fashion.

Can you give any advice to anyone wanting to work in the fashion industry?

Stay true to yourself, don’t be afraid to start at the bottom. Don’t be afraid to take risks. Always challenge yourself and be willing to learn new skills.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

My family, as they have been my biggest support and champions. They have lifted me up through all of the challenges.

Krystal has inspired me so much to work hard and never give up even when it might be challenging. She has achieved so much at such a young age and is such a girl boss at everything she does. I really enjoy having conversations with Krystal as she always gets me thinking about my career and gives me clarity on what she can see me doing as a career. I hope you enjoyed this week’s blog post, stay tuned for plenty more coming your way soon.

Until next time,

Courts xoxo
