Favourite Christmas films

My favourite Christmas movie is definitely Christmas with the Kranks, it is so funny and such a tradition that I watch with my family every year. I also love Home Alone, Polar Express and Elf.

Favourite Christmas songs

I love Baby Please Come home (Michael Buble version) and pretty much every other song that Michael Buble sings on his Christmas album. I also listen to  Last Christmas and All I want for Christmas is you on repeat, they are so iconic. Santa tell me by Ariana Grande is also one of my faves.

Favourite festive food

I love baking Christmas cookies, especially shortbread and my annual Pavlova which has become a big hit in my family. A few years ago I went to Canada to stay at friend’s house for a Christmas and they made deep fried Turkey and Butternut Squash. I probably will never forget how amazing that turkey tasted, it was to die for.

Traditions most excited for

Every year I make a Pavlova on Christmas Eve to take to lunch the next day, I also get excited to go midnight shopping at my local shopping centre as I go with my dad or friends and the atmosphere is buzzing with people trying to buy presents late at night. I also look forward to binge-watching Christmas movies all through December with my mum, and I would usually start watching the Hallmark movies at the start of the month and then save the best movies (Home Alone or Elf) for Christmas Eve.

What is the best Christmas gift you ever received?

My Grandparents had bought everyone in my family tickets to go on a Royal Carribean cruise with them and everyone was so shocked and emotional. They had shoe boxes hidden around the house and we had to grab one and inside was suncream, a hat and thongs and then the tickets were under our seats.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

My favourite Christmas memory was in New York at around 8:00 pm and it was too cold to go outside so we decided to stay in the hotel and watch Home Alone. Room service then brought up 5 complementary warm choc chip cookies which made the night even better. Being snuggled in bed watching movies eating cookies is everything I ever wanted to do a few nights before Christmas.

Christmas Eve traditions

Every Christmas Eve I would usually go to work for most the day and then visit my closest friends in the afternoon and we would give each other gifts. I would then go to church at night to watch the children’s Christmas concert. When I get home I make my Pavlova which has been a tradition every year since I was 10 years old. I then finish the night watching Elf or Polar Express.

As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant gift you ask for but never received?

When I was 11 years old, I asked my parents for an Alpaca, just expecting them to go out and buy one for me. On Christmas day they gave me an Alpaca toy with real fur. I wasn’t complaining because it was just as cute, and it won’t spit on you.

Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas day?

I usually open presents from my family on Christmas day and open the presents from my friends on Christmas Eve.

What is the best part about Christmas for you?

My favourite part about Christmas is all the traditions that I have made, and the last week that leads up to Christmas. Getting everything ready including buying gifts, decorating the tree, baking cookies are all things that I love doing during December. I also love my family parties, where I can catch up with my cousins and play pinata cricket or watch Christmas movies with them. Christmas Eve is definitely the highlight, getting last minute things ready, doing baking and listening to festive music and catching up with my friends.

I hope you enjoyed part 1 of my festive series and getting to know more about me. I have a few more Christmas blog posts coming up soon!

Until next time,

Courts xoxo
